The Fair Part 2

So...no date night and no sleepover. Why? Kellen did end up having strep throat. Oh well. That's the way it goes, especially after having a sick-free summer and then back to germ infested school days. She is on an antibiotic now and feeling much better.

Since she is on the antibiotic, we did make it back to the fair yesterday to see what we could see. It was HOT! And crowded. So that made it alot of fun.

Actually, we did have a good time. The girls rode more rides, went in two fun houses, and played a few more games. We also went into the craft area, which is my favorite part. We also went to see all the animals (Riley's favorite!) and Kellen and Jenna got to go on pony rides. As we were ready to go, we stopped for ice cream and that is where it all fell apart.

Personally, if we are going to spend money at the fair, I would rather buy stuff from the local groups who are trying to raise money as opposed to stopping at one of the vendors from the amusement company itself. So...we go to the ice cream booth from one of the local churches and Kellen loses it. She wanted soft serve (which to me is a crime after growing up on this and having been here) from one of the "fair" vendors. They were charging twice as much as the church for ice cream that isn't really any good! When we told her no, that we weren't going back, she just lost it. We did not give in, Kyle just calmly took her hand and we walked out of the fair. In her defense, she was getting over strep throat and it had been an incredibly long, hot day, but we could not give in. So embarrassing, though. Once we got in the car, I think she realized how silly the whole situation was and felt pretty bad. She was very good for the rest of the night.

After dinner and getting the girls to bed, Kyle and I watched one and a half movies (The Big Bounce, which was ok and half of The Illusionist, seems good but we were both falling asleep) while keeping track of the UT game on the computer. We won, thank goodness.

Today, we are all just taking it easy after such a crazy week of business trips, adjusting to school, the first sickness of the school year and the fair. So far, I am crushing Kyle in Fantasy Football!

And now, I have just been invited to a tea party at the coffee table, so off I go to drink some tea (water) and eat invisible cookies. Life is good.

wouldn't life be better if those were real, hot out of the oven chocolate chip cookies?! I got your response card the other day and AM SO HAPPY you are coming! I told my mom that that was the response that made me the most happy! I am laid up in bed with a fever and something, so hopefully that gets out of my system soon. Tell Kellen it makes me act cranky and want the soft ice cream too! Love you guys and can't wait to see you. - Sara
