Still Grumpy

I will start out by saying I am sorry I was a grump during my last post, but this one won't be much better. We are now on day 2 of Kyle staying home from work due to sickness. He NEVER misses work because he doesn't feel good. So that alone shows how bad he is feeling. In his defense, though, he has been the model patient. No complaining, whining, etc. Even though he isn't physically going in to work, he is working from home. So there have been lots of dial-in meetings that we have to be really quiet for.

Jenna woke up in the middle of the night throwing up. Bless her heart she made it to the bathroom every time. She deserves a medal. She is missing school today and just hanging out on the couch. Lots of TV time for her today.

Kellen and Riley are...so far...feeling fine. I will knock on some wood, throw salt over my shoulder and keep my fingers crossed that they stay that way. Riley has now missed 4 straight weeks of playgroup due to someone being sick. I hope she still remembers her little friends when we finally make it back.

I light of all the sicky yuckiness going on in our house, we have had some fun moments.
* Kellen decided that this week would be "Color Week". Monday was Pink Day, Tuesday was Red Day and today was Blue Day. She and Jenna have been literally covered head-to-toe (underwear and socks and shoes included) in the color of the day. Kellen is very clever and witty and is always planning fun days like that. Next weekend we are having Backwards Day. We will be eating dinner for breakfast, breakfast for dinner and get to have snack before lunch. The girls will wear their clothes backwards and their shoes on the wrong feet. We probably won't be leaving the house.
*On Monday, when Kyle got home from work, I was in the middle of making dinner. Riley had climbed up on the stool and grabbed a leftover fortune cookie off the counter. I had given her one about an hour before, so she knew where they were. She had been asking me to let her have the cookie (I had been saying ~ "No, after dinner") and to fix her some chocky kilk (chocolate milk). Since she didn't get what she wanted from me, she basically bombarded Kyle with the same requests. Since dinner was almost finished, he also told her no. She ran at him and yelled, "Why not? Mommy did it!" (because I gave her one an hour ago). Where did my two year old learn the art of peer pressure? Unbelievable.
*Yesterday, as the girls were getting on the bus, I was waving goodbye to them. They sit on the opposite side of the bus from the door. Well, there is this one little adorable Kindergarten boy who sits on the door side (facing me) who always looks out the window at me. Sometimes I wave to him, too. He is just adorable. Yesterday, when I waved at him, he winked at me! I'll be watching out for him come high school. Little stinker.

Oh and thank goodness ~ Lost is back on tomorrow! Woo hoo! I, hopefully (as long as the sick bugs stay at bay), will be watching the hour preview and the season premiere at my friend Sheri's house. She is just as fanatical about it as I am. We always have our day after Lost chat anyway, and now we will just get to do it in person. I am getting tired of the darned Writer's Strike and just want it to be over already.

As instructed by my good and forever friend Sara, I read the most wonderful and heartbreaking/heartwarming book last night in an hour. The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Please, please, please read this beautiful book. If you have kids, want kids or are a kid at heart...you will love this book. I will warn you ~ it has its very sad moments. I am going to suggest it for our next Kid's Book Club. Beautiful story.

Well, that's it for now. Wish us well!

I'd make sure that boy stays on the opposite side of the bus from the girls. He sounds like a little devil (albeit adorable). Though if he ever bothers them I'm sure Jenna will give him hell.

Hope everyone feels better soon & those who feel fine stay that way!!

I think I might try a color week just to mix things up a bit and see if anyone notices :-)

The princess comments brought back so many memories!!! Kellen is very clever with the color days and backwards day!! I hope Kyle is feeling better and that no one else gets the stomach stuff that Jenna had and that she feels better.
