<>Our town is celebrating its 300th year (I have mentioned before that we live in a Stars Hollow-like place). They kicked off the yearlong celebration this weekend. The girls school put on a little show last Thursday. They had been learning special songs and there was a cute slide show. A woman from the historical society dressed up and told the kids what life would have been like for them long ago. Then, on Monday, Kellen's and my Brownie troop and Jenna's Daisy troop marched in our Memorial Day parade. After, the town held a picnic. My parents, who are up here for the baby, got to come to both of these events. The girls were thrilled and I think Granmomma and Grandaddy were, too! Since we live so far away, they don't get to see a lot of the little things that the girls do.
<>We joined a swim and tennis club this summer. We, unfortunately, don't have a town pool. Most small towns in CT don't, I guess this is due to our short summers. We have always taken our swim lessons at the lake in the town where we used to live. I have never been a big fan of the lessons there ~ evidence of this is that my girls still don't know how to swim! Jenna, being a mermaid, of course, doesn't need lessons ~ just a place do do the swimming. (By the way, in case you didn't know, mermaids don't need to swim on top of the water, they only swim under it.) So...like I said, we joined a swim club. Swim and tennis lessons are included in our membership fee, so after doing the math we decided it would be worth it. And, now we have a pool to swim in whenever we want. We all went on Saturday and Kyle took the big girls on Sunday and Monday.
<>This was a double sleepover weekend. Maddie and Beth came here on Friday and my girls went there on Sunday night. We watched Bee Movie at our house - I have to say, I found many things completely inappropriate. I did not want to explain to the girls what a suicide pact was and now, thanks to Mr. Seinfeld, that's exactly what I had to do. And don't even get me started on the pregnant MAN. But I digress...on our night out, Kyle and I went to dinner and then to see Indiana Jones. Complete fun. People even clapped in the theater. Its been awhile since I've had that happen.
<>Now that summer has finally arrived (I say this, but who knows, tomorrow could be forty freaking degrees.), I officially have the sunburn to prove it.
