So, Kellen is now absolutely positively 8 years old. I still can't fathom that she is that old.

And we celebrated the occasion not once, not twice but three times.
First, was her actual birthday. She had a field trip that day to see a play in Hartford, so that made the day even more special. There was an art show at school that night and we went to that. We let her decide what dinner would be and she chose, surprise surprise - pizza. A great new little place just opened in town. I (with Jenna's help) made cupcakes. We let her open her gifts from us and then enjoyed the cupcakes after dinner.
Then on Friday, we took Kellen's friend Alex with us to one of the girls favorite places for dinner where the moose sang Happy Birthday to her. Then (after making sure I had taken Tylenol for the headache that was sure to come), we went to Libby Lu's for a mini shopping spree, lotion and lip gloss making and the big TO-DO ~ getting Kellen's ears pierced! It took her about 30 minutes to work herself into being ready, but was pretty brave. After, she said it didn't e
ven hurt. She picked out pretty little sapphires, after all, blue is her favorite color. The girls had a really good time - and surprisingly so did I. Places like that totally stress me out. All the squealing and glitter and pink and smelly perfumey things. Help. Me. Now.
Saturday, Jenna had soccer. Kellen skipped her game because we just couldn't fit it all in. (Oh, and Lisa's husband Michael scored us the tickets of the year. Although he fears his man card is about to be revoked. I will forever be indebted.) After much cooking and cleaning, we had the New England grandpa
rents, a very pregnant Aunt Sarah and Uncle Kris, Aunt Colleen and Uncle Tod and our good friend John (also Jenna's godfather) and his new girlfriend over for a little birthday party. Kellen got some great goodies including a set of water guns that inspired quite the water fight. Certain individuals ended up soaked to the bone. We had cake and played with Kellen's new game and our new obsession ~ Cooking Mama!
It was a lot of fun, but the celebrating is not quite over. My parents will be here soon because I have a new nephew!!!! That's right, a precious little boy has come into our lives. Everett Reed was born this morning. He was a whopping 8.5 pounds and 21 inches. I hear he has lots of dark hair. The girls and I are going to see him (and the proud new parents, Sarah and Kris, of course) after school and Kyle will meet us there later. I have no pictures, but will post as soon as I do!
Let the celebration begin!
