Aluminum Foil Wrapped With a Bow

Ten years ago today, Kyle and I said those famous last words. I do.
I have said this before, but here I go saying it again...I can't believe how fast these years have gone. Sometimes, I look at my life and I think ~ Yes, this is exactly how I pictured it would be. And yet, at other times, I'm still amazed at everything.
I know ten years ago the main thoughts racing through my head were ~ "God, I hope my dress still fits" and "Whatever you do - DO NOT trip". Everything else is just a blur.
Kyle and I got engaged after Christmas of our Junior year in college. We got married fifteen days after we graduated. I remember everyone saying how young we were. And we were young. Heck, I like to think that we are still young. I was 21 and Kyle was 22. I was barely old enough to legally partake in the champagne toast, for goodness sake. But, I would not change a thing and I can't imagine it any other way. Kyle and I were truly meant to be together. I knew it from our first date.
And not to be totally cheesy here, but we completely balance each other out. He is steady and calm while I am dramatic and irrational. He is a liberal conservative while I am a conservative liberal. He likes math and I like English. He reads about the stock market and what the Fed is going to do to the tax rate (and he enjoys this) and I read about what happened on Lost (OMG - did you see it last night!?!) and anguish over American Idol. He wants to be Warren Buffet and I want to be Oprah. He still wants that darn ferret and I still don't. He would like to see UCONN have a good football team and me, not so much. When I'm angry or frustrated I vent it right then and there, he waits a few weeks. We bicker constantly but love each other fiercely.
Yet, at the same time ~ we laugh at the same things, we shockingly (his parents were very lax~mine very strict) have the same parenting style, we passionately love football, we are both very competitive, we agree that Fall is the best time of year, we share the three most wonderful girls and like any parent would do anything for them, we like to do the same stuff and like to spend the majority of our time together. Co-dependent, we are.
So...on this day, the traditional aluminum anniversary, we will celebrate with a Stouffer's lasagna out of the tray, pop some Jiffy Pop and toast the years past with two cans of Coke. I'm kidding. I'll have the can of coke and he'll have a beer.
