Oh Happy Day!

I am going to brag a little. I had the best Mother's Day (weekend!) ever.

We had a pretty busy weekend, but it was all really fun stuff. On Saturday morning, both Kellen and Jenna had soccer. Jenna was first. Since she is in KinderSoccer, they really are just learning soccer basics by playing fun games. Kellen actually plays a real soccer game against another team although there is no score keeping. Last year she played mostly defense because that is what she likes. Her team was pretty good. This year, her team is unreal. They scored about 22 goals to 2, but who's counting? I know I have said this before, but it's so fascinating to watch these little kids to go from where Jenna is to where Kellen is. I love seeing them "get it".

After soccer, we went to lunch with Kyle's dad, who had come to watch soccer. After that, I browsed at one of my favorite stores while Kyle took the girls on some errands - read shop for Mother's Day.

They couldn't find what they wanted, so we took a little trip to the mall. I got to go in my other favorite store, while they took care of things. I finished up Kellen's birthday shopping (thank goodness because that was starting to stress me out!) and then we finally headed home.

As soon as we got home they gave me my main gift. A Wii!!!! Kyle and I have wanted one for a while and missed out at Christmas. It is so much fun. And a good behavior tool as well! We have set a limit of 15 minutes/day for now and if they don't behave we take away 5 minutes at a time. They can also earn 5 extra minutes for good behavior. And its totally working. We have started keeping track of their minutes on our refrigerator calendar and they know exactly what they have.

On Sunday morning, I woke up to breakfast in bed (gogurt, baby carrots and a cheese stick!), then everybody disappeared and when I got up there was a big red arrow on the floor. I followed the trail of arrows down the stairs, through the kitchen and dining room and into the family room. When I walked in I heard Riley singing even though she was supposed to be quiet because they were hiding. They jumped out and yelled, "Happy Mother's Day!" The arrows pointed to Kyle's chair where there were cards and chocolate. Each girl had picked out a different music card and it was amazing how perfect they were from each girl. Kellen's was a Gilmore Girl card (perfect because I started watching that show right after she was born and decided that their relationship was what I wanted with my daughter), Jenna's sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow (she is such a dreamer) and Riley's sings Merle Haggard's "Mama Tried" ("No one could steer me right, but Mama tried." Oh Lord, you can't get any better than that for Miss Little!). Jenna had made the most beautiful painting with a poem on the back at school and Kellen gave me a poem with her picture and handprints that she had done at school. I cherish that kind of gift.

We then had a real breakfast and went to a butterfly conservatory. We had lunch/dinner at the conservatory and then went here to make candles. It was a fabulous day. I did NO housework or anything except enjoy my family.

Now its back to normal, but I feel completely rejuvenated. How lovely is my life.

SOunds like you had a great day and your girls are so sweet! Guess what? We got a Wii this week too!! I went ahead and got it for John for his birthday. Maybe I should try that time limit and behavior thing on him?!

Happy Mother's Day!

You DID have the best mother's day! The Wii is fabulous! We got ours for our anniversary last year. I love the cards, they are so appropriate for each girl. I love Riley's especially (your Merle Girl).
