For about the past three weeks, I have been living in a fun new world. A world ruled by vampires. That's right, people. Vampires.
I am SO not ashamed to say it, but I am seriously obsessed by the Twilight saga. For those three of you living under a rock, the Twilight saga is a four book series written for *teenagers* by a stay-at-home mom of three.
I am obsessed.
I had heard of the books over a year ago. I spend quite a bit of time in Barnes and Noble, and its not very easy to go in there and NOT at least see these books. I thought way back then that they looked good and that if I were under the age of twenty, I would probably be reading them. Then a few months ago when I joined Facebook, just about every other piece of flair was a reference to Twilight. So, I thought that the next time I was at the library, I would check it out. The problem was the books were never there. They were ALWAYS checked out. At this point, my curiosity was getting the better of me. I went to B&N, bought the first book and was hooked by chapter 1.
I finished the first book in less than 12 hours. I finished and did not know what to do with myself. No one I knew (over 32 anyway!) had read the book, so I had no one to talk to. I was on line reading everything I could find about the book because I could think of nothing else. The next day I gave the book to my friend Lisa. It took her two days to read the book and then she FINALLY finished and called (stalked) me because she was obsessed as well. In the meantime, Kellen gave me book #2 for my birthday and I read through it the same way.
Book #3 was in the middle of Jenna's birthday festivities and then book #4 was right after. Over 1500 pages in about two weeks. I was eating, breathing, sleeping, dreaming Twilight. I would read while brushing my teeth and at red lights. I was staying up until 3:00 in the morning. I was doing absolutely NO housework.
Lisa and I were talking nonstop on the phone about it ~ thinking we were crazy.
Then...we were both invited to join a new book club. The minute we started discussing what books we liked, one of the women mentioned Twilight and the rest of the night, that's all we talked about.
I have not been this obsessed by a book/series since Harry Potter. It's very similar in that it brings to life this whole fantasy world. I can tell you that I truly wish this were real life. The movie is coming out on November 21st. I'll be there at least three times.
So...now you either think I'm crazy or you have read Twilight and completely understand. I used to be afraid of the dark, now I'm just hoping I'll run into a vampire.

I finally read it and finished it 8 hours yesterday. I wasn't going to succumb to all the hype, but have to say I am hooked as well! Out to buy book #2 tonight and willing to discuss at anytime!
I haven't read Twilight, but I'm looking for something new so I'll definately check it out. This can continue my Vampire history (Buffy and now True Blood) that began with Rob. Thanks for the rec!
Rebecca, I can't think of a better person to share my obsessions with. First, NKOTB, now Twilight! When are we going to Forks???
Lisa
I haven't read Twilight, but you have certainly peaked my interest.
BTW-the movie ticker on your page is making me nervous b/c the movie comes out 1 day before my 30th bday. It's like watching the few last days of my 20's just tick, tick away..SCARY!!!
