One of those days

I am having a hard time getting going this morning. This has been a stressful week so far with lots to do. My father-in-law is getting married for the third time this weekend. Yes, I did say third time.

The girls are flower girls and Kyle is the best man. I have been running around all over trying to get everything we need. Matching hair bows. New white tights. New white shoes for Kellen, which is a story in and of itself (I bought her new Easter shoes not long ago in Rhode Island. The night before Easter when I was laying their finery out and opened her shoe box - there was only ONE shoe inside. ARRRGGGHHH). Something for me to wear. Eyebrow wax. A present? For a third marriage??? I don't even know where to begin.

Also, this week, Kellen had her first book report due. She did hers on a biography of Florence Nightingale. They had to dress up as their person. Seriously? A nursing outfit from the 1800's and she was the Lady with the lamp. So...an old-fashioned lantern. Riiight. Luckily my mom made capes with their Christmas dresses two years ago, so she had that. I found a really cheap black dress from Target that we pinned a red cross onto. We put her hair in a bun and took the top off one of our citronella candle lanterns. Whew. Done. She, of course, did the report herself and I only guided her in the costume selection, but I was totally stressed out about it. I'll post pictures of her in costume next time. I didn't get a chance to take any this morning!

Also, this week I had to go in and volunteer in Jenna's class. Which I love to do, but I can't take little miss. I wish I could go in to class more often, but hate asking my friends to watch Riley. Just because they are also at home doesn't mean they aren't busy and want another kid around for the day! I am the only one of our close circle that still has a little one, so I am usually the only one needing a babysitter. They never mind but I hate imposing. This was one of those weeks, where no one was available (this week and next is Spring Break week in the state of CT, so Lisa and Sheri are getting a head start on their vacations - lucky ladies!) Luckily, with Kyle's new job, he was able to stay home and work that morning and go in late. That never would have happened with his old job and it makes such a difference! How much work he actually got done, I don't know!

It was a fun day with Jenna, though. They have been talking about the signs of spring, so we went on a Spring Walk. They took turns being the reporter and writing down what the other kids found. It took them awhile to figure out what to look for, but once they got rolling they got creative. At first they found lots of flowers, buds on the trees, green grass, etc, but in the end they were noticing lawn mowers (They call them tractors up here. That makes me nuts.), grills, spider webs, melting ice (oh yes, we still have some ice) and mud! I love watching them in their environment. Its like a little window into their life without me.

Well, I have written a novel today. Sorry. I think I am just trying to delay the day. We have physical therapy for Riley and that eyebrow wax I mentioned. I still haven't figured dinner out for today, which probably means a stop at the grocery store. But, first on my list is a shower.

That would be nice.

Wow! You have had a crazy week~ Sometimes you just need to talk about it to make it not seem as bad. ;) Hope the wedding goes off without a hitch! Third times a charm, right?!
