So, just a quick post today. We are finally getting back to normal here after our trip to Tennessee. Luckily, its parent/teacher conference week at school, so Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are all half days, so its been a good week to decompress.
Here are the next two items on my thankful list:
28. Good conferences. I don't know if this is just a normal thing for all moms, but I am a complete wreck before each conference. I know the girls are great kids and I also think they are pretty smart, so I don't know what I get all worked up about. But, I do. Every time. So this year was no different, especially since I had gotten snippets of info from the teachers at the open houses. Kellen's teacher had mentioned that Kellen was having trouble focusing/getting work done on time (She literally has to be the slowest moving kid in the world! And she can get very distracted. I can tell her to go upstairs and put on her glasses and she will come back down with a stuffed animal, a necklace and a book, but no glasses! Drives me insane.) and Jenna's teacher had mentioned that she was a little needy and dramatic (What? The princess mermaid isn't anything other than dramatic?). So...I braced myself for the worst and both conferences went.....great! The teachers love the girls and told me how good they are and how fun they are to have in class. Kellen is doing just fine with the academic stuff even though it takes her a while to get it done and, yes, she does get distracted by talking with her friends. Hmm, where have I heard that one before? Only every single one of my own report cards! Jenna's teacher said she is above where she should be academically and that she is very social. Her issue isn't just talking, its being overly concerned about what everyone else is doing. And she likes to get her way. I never would have guessed - ha, ha, ha.
29. Ellen. I just love her show. She is so hilarious and I swear she could pull anyone out of a bad mood. Kellen was just dancing to Soulja Boy after learing it on Ellen. I love, love, love her show.
Also, Riley decided while we were in Tennessee that she is ready to learn how to go potty on the potty. Ok, I am NOT ready to potty train - that is going to have to wait until after Christmas. I am not prepared for that bit of stress right now. However, as I was doing laundry today, I put a few pairs of panties that Jenna outgrew in Riley's stack. She took them herself and tried to put them on. So, since about 9:00 this morning, Riley has been wearing a pair of Dora panties over her pants. That's what the picture above is of. Too funny.
And tonight is my Girls Night Out!!! Woohoo! Actually, we aren't that crazy. We just go to our local Panera Bread and try very hard not to talk about the kids!
So, tonight I'll raise my glass of iced tea to good friends, a night out, the relief that conferences went well and new underwear.
