So...here is what I am thankful for today (and yesterday).
7. My ipod. Definitely the best invention since DVR's (which I am sure will show up on this list at some point!). I love, love, love having my favorite music available at any time. No matter what kind of mood I'm in (and I am quite moody) I always have just the right music. Here are my favorite songs on my favorite playlists:
The Rebecca Playlist ~ these are the songs (right now anyway) I could listen to over and over and over....
You're Beautiful by James Blunt (love him)
This Love and She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5
Don't Matter by Akon (its addiciting)
Everything by Michael Buble' (makes me think of my life with my family)
Me Love and Beautiful Girls by Sean Kingston
Over My Head and How to Save A Life by The Fray
Silent House by The Dixie Chicks (because I love my mammaw)
Crazy by Gnarls Barkley
Rehab by Amy Winehouse (love the song, but the poor girl NEEDS to go to rehab)
The Happy Playlist ~ they just make me happy : )
The Joker/Everything I Own by Jason Mraz and Chrissie Hynde (from the Happy Feet soundtrack - you must hear this song!)
Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf because they are my Dad's favorite band and I was obsessed with the Velcro Pygmies in college (Kimmie knows what I'm talking about)
Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash (who doesn't love that song)
Free Bird by Lynard Skynard (my ALL TIME favorite band and I want this song played at my funeral even if I live to be 105 no matter how cheesy that is)
I'm On My Way by The Proclaimers (loved them since Benny and Joon)
To Be With You by Mr. Big (always wanted someone to sing that to me)
Tongue by R.E.M. (first concert Kyle and I went to together)
The Long Way Around by The Dixie Chicks (this is my theme song for me and my sisters)
Back Where I Come From by Kenny Chesney (I am very proud of where I come from)
Wide Open Spaces by The Dixie Chicks (this is MY theme song)
The Love Playlist ~ makes me think of Kyle and our life, so far, together
Easy Silence by The Dixie Chicks
Have A Little Faith In Me by Jewel from the Phenomenon soundtrack (one of our first movies together that we both liked)
Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden (because we're cheesy together - Sara knows what I'm talking about)
We Belong by Pat Benatar (love that song)
True Fine Love by Steve Miller Band (it always makes me smile)
Eternal Flame by The Bangles (because its our song)
The Girls Playlist ~ these are songs (radio songs, not kid music or High School Musical - that would be a whole other list) the girls like to sing...clean versions, of course
With Arms Wide Open by Creed (this came out while I was pregnant with Kellen and is her theme song - everyone should have their own theme song)
Lady by Lenny Kravitz (Jenna's song)
Upside Down by Jack Johnson (Riley's song)
Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani (B-A-N-A-N-A-S, I'll have that in my head all day)
Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne (too funny to hear your 7 and 5 year old singing "Hey hey, you you! I don't like your girlfriend....She's like, so whatever")
The Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani (even funnier to hear you 1 year old singing "whoo hoo, yee hoo..")
Goodbye Earl by The Dixie Chicks (are my kids going to be scarred for life?)
If I Had A $1,000,000 by The Barenaked Ladies ("not a real green dress, that's cruel"...maybe my favorite lyric in any song ever)
I Wanna Talk About Me by Toby Keith (fun, fun, fun)
The Lullabye Playlist ~ my favorite songs to play to my sweet babies
Lullabye by The Dixie Chicks (I have nothing but love for this song)
Golden Slumbers/The End by k.d. lang from the Happy Feet soundtrack (so beautiful it makes me cry)
Lullbye (Goodnight, My Angel) by Billy Joel (I love Billy Joel)
When You Say Nothing At All by Alison Krauss (perfect song for the love of your precious baby who can't tell you in words how much they love you, but you just know)
Puff the Magic Dragon by Peter, Paul and Mary (doesn't everyone want to go to Hannalee?)
Satellite by Dave Matthews Band (such a calming song)
And for the next thing on my thankful list...
8. Smart children's books, like my current favorite ~ The Princess and The Pea by Lauren Child and captured by Polly Borland. This is a MUST HAVE for any little princesses or big princesses who live in your house. This book is written by the woman who does the Charlie and Lola books (and Disney Channel favorite). I love, love, love, love this book. It is beautifully written and captured (not illustrated, but captured ~ it looks like little vignettes right out of a dollhouse). It is a gorgeous book and will be coming to our house at Christmas.
Happy Thursday and I hope you all have your own theme song...

wow, so many good songs! Ah, Wide Open Spaces, Satellite...two of my all time favorites. I always forget about my little shuffle. it's great, but not nearly as convenient as the ipod...gotta get back into itunes. i'll be using your list to find some good ones! :)
I'm copying your playlists as well! Emory also loves Burning Ring of Fire. I'll try some of the others.
There are two memories I have of you and music- 1) Truly, Madly, Deeply through the window and 2) Singing some song at the top of our lungs when we thought the car windows were rolled up....but they weren't!
Music can put you in a mood, change a mood, or keep you in a mood you're already in. We used to sing fun stuff in the car. Remember the 50's tape we had?
