This is my absolute favorite day of the whole entire year! If anyone out there is watching The Reaper on the CW (very appropriate show for Halloween, by the way, since its about the devil's bounty hunter - not scary, just hilarious), then you will know that I agree with Ted, that "Halloween is not just a day - its a season"!
So, its 11:00 and we have already had several Halloween events today! The girls got to wear their costumes to school because they both have parades (same school, but different times). Jenna's was at 10:00, Kellen's will be at 2:00. Riley got to wear her costume to her playgroup this morning at 9:00 (also at the girl's school) and then she and I walked outside to watch Jenna's parade. Its so cute to see all the kiddies in their costumes. Its fun to see how the costumes progress in the different ages, the toddlers were all cute and cuddly creatures (teddy bears, Tiggers and Poohs, kitties and dogs), then the Kindergartners were princesses and superheroes, and then Kellen's friends are going as pirates and cheerleaders.
Kellen is a ballerina, Jenna is a "beautiful" princess and Riley is a little piggy. My mom made the costumes and I'll post pictures later after they have trick or treated. We are going to Maddie and Beth's house to trick or treat with them because our street is not "t or t" friendly. Kyle has to work late tonight, so he will be missing out on the fun (I don't know how sad he'll be, though, after having to carry Jenna around on his shoulder last year because she was a mermaid - with NO feet, "mermaid's DO NOT have feet", only a tail, in case you didn't know).
On Monday, the girls got to go to Kyle's office to trick or treat there. That was cute, too. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so no pictures. So, Kyle didn't exactly miss out on ALL the fun.
Since Kyle is working late, that probably means that I will be staying up late to watch something scary on tv, while I'm waiting on him to come home. I do this every year and then regret it after for weeks. I am a complete scaredy cat, but I love to get scared. Make sense? Not really. It probably has something to do with my sister Laura convincing me that she was a vampire when we were kids. So, I'll thank her for that. Not to mention that my Grandmother let us watch Friday the 13th at her house when we were way too little, just because we told her our mom let us watch it at home! If you know my mom, you know that's a complete lie. Last year I watched some haunted house show on the Discovery channel because it was about a house in Connecticut. I think I know where that house is and I have been avoiding the street I think its on!
Here is a list of my favorite scary movies of all time:
1. The Shining ~ also one of my favorite books
2. Jaws ~ I know everyone says this, but I still won't go in the water!
3. Halloween ~ total classic, the music alone makes my heart race
4. An American Werewolf in Paris ~ am I crazy that I find this movie hilarious?
5. The House on Haunted Hill (The original with Vincent Price) ~ saw this as a kid and it was just a really good ghost story
6. The Blair Witch Project ~ completely bored through entire movie, until the last few scenes
And now my least favorite scary movies:
1. Happy Birthday to Me ~ total cheesy 80's horror movie (with Mary from Little House on the Prarie!), but I saw it at a slumber party and I still have nightmares
2. The Ring ~ the horse on the boat, come on, why did they have to do that?
3. IT ~ because I collect clowns (I could say the same about Poltergiest, but that one is somehow ok)
4. Amityville Horror II (not the original, even though that one is supposedly a true story) ~ again it seems to be the cheesiest movies scare me the most
5. Seven ~ used to be one of my favorites, just because of Brad Pitt, but now I'm on Team Aniston
I know I am probably leaving out a ton of scary-good movies (and you may notice I'm not a big fan of gore since those kind of movies aren't really on my list), so, what are your favorites, comment below!!!
Anyway, BOO to you and I hope everybody out there has a Happy (and not too scary) Halloween!
