So, I realize its been awhile since my last post, but that's because we've been so busy. Going to the pool. And the pool. And, oh yeah, the pool.

I know that I shouldn't complain. I am very grateful to have a pool to go to. Some of my Southern readers won't understand, but here in the Great North, there are NO pools. Yes, some people have private pools, but these are mostly of the above-ground variety. This is partly to blame on the rocky soil and partly to blame on the "short" summers (yeah, right, maybe 50 years ago!) and also partly to blame on the fact that we are out in the "country" (again a very relative term) and every town is on well water.

I've mentioned before that we used to go to the lake ~ our old house even had private beach rights to the lake~ and we used to spend a lot of time there. But, it is hard to learn to swim in a lake AND we had a near-drowning experience last year with some really non-committed lifeguards, so I vowed to never go back. And, if your town has a lake, there is NO town pool.
Kyle was determined that the girls would learn to swim and after looking around, we finally found our swim club. So there we have been. EVERY day.
We have had fun. The girls are truly swimming. Jenna even won third place in her last swim meet! She can swim butterfly. They can go off the high and low dive. And flip! And do handstands!

The downside to all this swimming? We have done NOTHING else
all summer (except for a trip to Sarah's for her birthday and some dress-up sessions). At the end of the school year, the girls and I made a list of everything that we wanted to do over the summer. I let them each pick three things (Kyle and I also got three picks). Some of the things on the list were to go to the aquarium, the zoo, go letterboxing and play mini-golf. So far the only thing we've crossed off the list was to go to the movies. Somehow, I have to cram everything else in before school starts up at the end of August.
Time flies when you're having fun!
