Oh my goodness! Its freezing outside today! I don't even know what the temperature is, but I know it was too cold to stand at the end of the driveway for the bus. You can't see the driveway from our front door, so we usually stand all the way outside ~ not today or any other FREEZING day! The girls will just have to wait inside. We don't have much snow, just a dusting, but its been snowing/sleeting/icing off and on for 2 1/2 days. School was delayed 2 hours yesterday, which meant there was no morning Kindergarten, so Jenna was home with me.
I LOVE having them home. I feel like in the past two years that snow days were sometimes wasted because we would sleep late and just hang out in front of the TV, this year, though, we are totally going to make the best of them. Riley is sleeping through the night, unlike the past school years!, and so I won't be so darn tired for snow days this year. I have visions of hot chocolate and snowman building and homemade waffles dancing in my head. Some of my favorite childhood memories are the ones where we would rush out to the grocery store for milk and bread (gotta have milk and bread if you are snowed in!) and my favorite snow day was the one where we were all old enough to watch Gone With the Wind and we rented that before the big snow hit. My girls aren't old enough for that, but when they are we definitely have a date with Scarlett and Rhett.
The Girl Scout Holiday Fair went great. My girls sold out of almost everything! They earned $61.00. I was really proud of them. Yesterday was another Brownie meeting, but it was snowing outside (I mean really coming down) and the girls were a little hyper. When the meeting started I was told that we were supposed to get 5 inches, by the end of the meeting our snowfall was up to 5 feet! They girls were trying to earn their manner badges. We made need a review in a few weeks. They were so NOT listening. If I had to name my one pet peeve, its bad manners. But anyway, I'm now Brownie free for another two weeks. Whew.
I have been getting the house ready to decorate this weekend. I can't wait. We get a real Christmas tree. I would prefer buying a fake tree, because it would be sooooo much easier. But since its pretty much the only Christmas tradition of Kyle's that I let him keep we still get the real live tree (Come on, I do most of the work, isn't it only fair that I pick what we do at Christmas? Although, this year he is going to get his mom's gingerbread recipe and spend a day making cookies and a house with the girls. They will have so much fun doing that and I can't wait to see what they come up with!), plus "live" Christmas tree people are like a cult. You can't change their minds. It is fun to go pick out the tree and cut it down ourselves, though. What's not fun is the two hours after you get it home, trying to make it fit in the stand, all while the needles are scratching your arms to pieces. Then, when its finally time to string the lights and hang the garland, you get scratched all over again. Then, there's the constant watering and vacuuming up of needles. But, it smells great. Does that make it worth it?
Well, I'm off to check the weather. Wish us a big snow storm with no power outages!

Kim used to work with my husband and they've remained friends. She's a sweetie! I just noticed on your profile that one of your favorite movies is Shag. That's too funny b/c that is one of my faves too! I refuse to get rid of my VHS copy of it just in case I might want to watch it on a TV where we don't have a DVD player. Stay warm up there. It's been nice "meeting" you! Your girls are adorable.
